The Computer Graphics International 2011 (CGI 2011) conference was held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on June 12th-15th, 2011; with the workshop on VFX, Computer Animation, and Stereo Movie Generation on June 12th and the main conference is on June 13th-15th. These proceedings contain both papers from the workshop and the main conference.

CGI was created as CG Tokyo in 1983, a few years later in 1988, it went out of Japan and became a truly international conference held in many different countries around the world to become one of the oldest computer graphics conferences in the world.

In 2011, we received 220 full paper and 46 short paper submissions from over 30 different countries and all the submitted papers went through at least 3 reviews by 105 International Program Committee (IPC) members and 166 external sub-reviewers. For the main conference, 53 full papers have been chosen, making a 24% acceptance rate. A total of 35 best papers have been selected out of the full papers and with an acceptance rate of less than 16%. The 35 best papers will be published in the special issue of The Visual Computer. A total of 30 short papers have been also selected among Full and Short paper submissions.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the IPC members as well as to the external reviewers for their extremely efficient work in reviewing all these papers in less than one month reviewing period. We also would like to thank to the conference co-chairs, Chang-Hun Kim (Korea University), Chris Joslin (Carleton University), Pierre Poulin (Université de Montréal), the authors for their participation, and the local organization committee members for their invaluable collaboration.

We would like to pass our special thanks to the organization team for CGI 2011, especially the editing team Gabriel Telles O’Neill and Nima Nikfetrat for going through each manuscripts and making the online version of these proceedings.

The CGI 2011 Conference is a success due to everybody’s diligence.
